Best Mother's Day Gift Ever!

Today when I picked Sophia up from school, she ran over to one of the tables and yelled, "Mommy! I have a surprise for you!" The teacher gave her a gentle reminder, then she said, "Happy Smother's Day!" (I wonder if that was a Freudian slip?) Anyway, there was a large manilla envelope, and a small package wrapped in pink tissue paper. We were on our way to meet Toby for dinner at Mellow Mushroom, so we decided we'd open them together with Daddy.

When we got to the restaurant, we sat down in our booth, ordered our food, then commenced with opening my gifts. Sophia helped, of course. First, we opened the gift wrapped in pink tissue paper. As usual, the teachers outdid themselves in helping the kiddos craft unique gifts. This is what I unwrapped...

A sweet little hand-made heart for me! I absolutely love it! Both Ms. Heather and Ms. Erin are very artistic and love helping all the children create things.

But, then. Then, I opened the manilla envelope and pulled out this...

As I began to read, tears began to fill my eyes. I can't put into words how much this simple sheet of paper, with some simple questions answered by my sweet daughter, means to me. I began to read it aloud, and was laughing and crying at the same time! I'm somewhat surprised at how well Sophia did in answering these questions. Perceptive little gal, that one. I'm particularly fond of the height and weight descriptions;)

I will truly cherish this gift forever. I will be framing it to hang in my office, and I've already scanned it to print an extra copy for my Project Life album. This truly is the best Mother's Day gift ever! Thanks, Ms. Heather and Ms. Erin!
