a very big weekend, indeed

Prepare yourself for a long post!. . .

The Slinkard family had quite the busy weekend. First, and foremost, Monday (the 21st) was Toby's birthday. So, it was a big birthday weekend. As it turns out, however, there were also lots of other big goings-on!

First, many of you know that my niece Libby is getting married in September. Her personal bridal shower was Saturday afternoon at the beautiful home of Miranda, one of her bridesmaids. Cari (her sister and my niece) is the matron of honor, and she and her daughter (and puppy!) came up from Fort Worth for the big event. Sophia stayed home with Daddy, and I went to the shower. When I got there, Cari gave me something for Sophia.....

Aren't they cute!!! She looks like a little diva!

Toby's birthday wasn't the only one we celebrated. Our nephew, Nicholas, turned ten last week, and he had a swim party on Saturday afternoon. We went by for a while, but didn't swim because there were too many active boys running around!

After that party, it was finally time for T's party. Yeah! Unfortunately for him, he had to grill his own birthday dinner :) Attendees: Toby, Susan, Sophia, Pa Paw, Granny, Uncle Jim, Aunt Betty, Calloway, Uncle Byron, Aunt LeAnn, Brianna and Lauren. Cari, Libby and her friend Katy had gone out for a bachelorette party, so they didn't make it for dinner. While we were finishing up preparations for dinner, Pa Paw did a good job taking care of Sophia...He even fed her!

After dinner, Calloway and Sophia played in the floor together for a while before Toby opened his cards/gifts. Calloway is 38 hours (exactly) younger than Sophia, but she was full term. She is doing a great job sitting up. Here they are *sitting* together. Well, Calloway is sitting up and Sophia is propped up. But, at least she's doing it herself!

A couple of close-ups of these adorable little girls...

Then it was time for Toby to open his cards/gifts. I'll post some photos of his gift from Sophia later.

Then, Toby decided he needed to figure out if Calloway was really that much bigger than Sophia....

I don't think he could actually tell, but it looks like he had a good time investigating!

A little while later, Cari, Libby and Katy came by to see everyone. Libby hasn't gotten to see Sophia very much, so we had to snap a photo.

Here's a great pic of my niece and great-niece (Cari and Calloway)!

Since I haven't really posted any, yet, here are photos of my other nieces, Lauren and Brianna...

Moving right along....On Sunday afternoon, we went to Toby's parents' house for lunch to celebrate his birthday. After lunch, we went to Uncle Cliff and Aunt Niki's house to swim. This wasn't the first time Sophia has been in the pool, but it was the first time she really got to get in *swim* and play quite a bit. In the past, it's either been too cold, too crowded, etc. Sunday was perfect!

Here she is enjoying some pool time. The first pic is with cousin Savannah!

A great time was had by all. I'll update more soon...

Thanks, Jessica. Toby's brother designed and built that pool, which has a castle on the side. One of the castle towers is the diving platform, and one has a slide inside! It's unreal. I'll try to post some more pictures of the pool and pool house soon!
